LOOK UP YOUR INITIAL ON THE NEWLY LAUNCHED WOOD & WOOD WEBSITE!
Due to increased demand for their services Wood & Wood, the designer's sign maker who have been associated with a number of prestigious signing projects over the years, will be launching a revamped website on 28/08/01. The website will allow Wood & Wood to include information about their latest clients. It will also allow customers, designers and architects to read about the latest services, projects, products, techniques and exhibitions on offer at Wood & Wood.
One outstanding feature of the site focuses around the hugely popular Cast of Characters exhibition that continues to be on display in the Wood & Wood offices. Log onto www.woodandwood.co.uk, visit the ‘Exhibitions' section and see how your initials are interpreted in 3D format by designers such as: Alan Fletcher, David Hillman, Rodney Fitch, Lynn Trickett and Michael Wolff. They include letters designed in entwined neon, layered and sandblasted glass, bentwood, etched brass stainless steel, crimped mesh and acrylic.
Wood and Wood always work closely with design consultants and in-house designers, succeeding in translating creative ideas, even outrageous ones into effective hardware. Primarily sign makers, Wood and Wood have undertaken a number of unrelated projects ranging from street furniture to custom made reception desks. They have just been appointed by John Lewis on a design and build basis to develop new signage concepts for the company's renaming project.
Due to the increasing workload at Wood & Wood three new staff have also been brought on board to join the in house team of graphic, industrial and engineering designers who work closely together translating ideas into well-engineered 3 dimensional objects.

Notes to the editor
John Wood established Wood & Wood in 1968. The company was a family run business until 2000 when it was bought out by Fitzwilton plc. Fitzwilton also have shares in Waterford, Wedgewood and the Independent newspaper. Offices are in London and Exeter. The London based operation is primarily a design and project office, with production and further project management being carried out in a purpose built factory in Exeter. The factory is equipped to produce large and small-scale projects in a diversity of materials.
Wood & Wood are the bridge between the contemporary sign and design industries. This devotion to artistic duty was recognised in 1987 when Wood & Wood became the first signmaker ever to win two British Design and Art Direction Awards – hitherto the exclusive province of specialist designers and advertising agencies. The awards were for its series of pub signs for John Smith, the Yorkshire Brewery. They have gone on to win further design accolades including the Chartered Society of Designers' Minevra award for design management and the Sign Design Society Grand Prix Award 2000.
