DANNY WOOD PERFORMS FIRST SOLO CONCERT; CD RELEASE DATE RESCHEDULED WITH NEW HIDDEN TRACKS ADDED

To celebrate the forthcoming release of his debut solo CD Second Face (Empire Musicwerks/ Damage/BMG Records), DANNY WOOD kicked off a series of live appearances with a concert on the beach in Ft. Lauderdale, FL on Saturday, April 5th. WOOD unveiled part of his stage act and new rock band when he performed at the AVP Volleyball Event for a crowd estimated as between 3,000 to 4,000. The former New Kid On The Block star has spent the last ten years developing his own Damage Records label and producing other artists (Joey McIntyre, Mark Wahlberg), and is now ready to show the world his true rock ‘n roll heart.

"It was great to get out there and perform again," WOOD said. "I was not nervous at all, and it was a good first gig. "In New Kids, I toured all over the world and played at sold out arenas filled with screaming fans. Now I want to move on and show people who I am today through my music." With the release of SECOND FACE, WOOD demonstrates his maturity as a singer and songwriter; he also produced the album with Pete Masitti (Hootie and the Blowfish, Julio Iglesias Jr).

Although a backlash of having been a teen idol sometimes precedes WOOD, it does not bother him because "I understand that New Kids were shoved down America's throats and the image that goes with that is frustrating. But I think I have proven on this album that I can do something else and do it well, and it's been long enough since that craziness ended for people to give me a chance, and give the record a listen."

Apparently, people are doing just that: the first single off the album, "When The Lights Go Out," is already getting great reaction at radio. Tampa/Orlando station Citrus 95.3 (WXCV) reports incredible response to the song on their "Hot 7 At 7" request show, where the tune has remained in the #1 slot for 15 consecutive nights, garnering 24 spins a week and blazing ahead of other charting artists such as John Mayer, The Goo Goo Dolls, Coldplay, Matchbox 20 and No Doubt. "How thrilling is that?" asks WOOD. "The single isn't even officially released yet and already people are asking to hear it."

The release date for SECOND FACE has been pushed back to May 20 to allow WOOD to complete a promotional video, and include some extra music on the album. Originally slated to contain 14 cuts, WOOD has become such a prolific songwriter that four additional tunes have been added to the CD as unlisted, special bonus "hidden tracks." The package also contains an extensive 16-page booklet complete with song lyrics, photos and bio. Additional concert dates will be announced shortly. WOOD's new website, www.dannywood.com, is now completed.
