FROM NEW KID ON THE BLOCK TO NEW MAN IN TOWN: DANNY WOOD RELEASES DEBUT SOLO CD "SECOND FACE"

DANNY WOOD, former member of globally celebrated New Kids On The Block, will release his debut solo CD, SECOND FACE, on April 15 (Empire Music Werks/Damage/ BMG). "I'm very excited about my album," WOOD said. "I put my heart and soul into it, and I think it really shows a lot about the person I am today."

When he was still in his teens, WOOD became an international superstar as a member of the first pop boy band. New Kids sold 60 million albums worldwide and broke every sales and attendance record at major venues around the world. Their legion of fans numbered in the millions and their loyalty was fierce. But eventually New Kids broke up and the fans grew up…and so has WOOD. With the release of SECOND FACE, WOOD demonstrates his maturity as a singer and songwriting; he also produced the album with Pete Masitti (Hootie and the Blowfish, Julio Iglesias Jr.).

SECOND FACE is the culmination of two years' worth of work by the musician preparing for this moment. Keeping busy since 1995, WOOD formed his own record label and has been producing other artists, including former bandmate Joey McIntyre, and Marky Mark, brother of fellow New Kid Donnie Wahlberg. The songs on WOOD's album show a marked maturity and the emergence of a talent to be reckoned with. All 16 songs were written by WOOD, showcasing an eclectic mix of rock and pop, combined with undeniably memorable melodies. The album was recorded in Miami at West End Studios, and House of Sound.

BMG will support the CD release with a major marketing and promotional campaign. Radio promotion is being handled by Sam Kaiser, and publicity by ISL Public Relations. A headlining promotional tour is being planned to coincide with the album's release.
